Professor Bonjo Lungov is one of the most important European and worldpuppet theatre directors. He was born in 1953 in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria.He is a graduate of the Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts with a degree in master puppeteer and a second degree in puppet theatre directing. He worked as an actor at the Plovdiv Puppet Theatre and the Central Puppet Theatre in Sofia. Since 1981 he has been an assistant in the class of Dimitar Stojanov withthe degree in master puppeteer. Since 1998 he has been elected professor of puppetry education. Bonjo Lungov has been artistic director of puppetry acting classes from 1989 to the present. He has also been an artistic consultant to puppet theatres in Pazardzhik, Ruse and Pleven. He founded and now manages the Theatre 13 and Albena Theatre, with which he participates in numerous international theatre festivals and develops the cultural programme of the Albena complex from 1996 to 2007. Since 1994 to this day, by the means of courses and seminars, he helps to develop the puppet theatre in Macedonia and every year he puts on a puppet show at the Theatre for Children and Youth in Skopje. He had held seminars in both Athens and Crete. In 2000 in Hanover, Germany and in 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain, he has been the artistic director in chief of all EXPO programmes for the Bulgarian Pavilion.He has directed about 100 puppet shows and has received over 30 awards for directing, performances in general and for artistic achievements at festivals in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Croatia, France have also participated in numerous theatre festivals in China, Russia, Switzerland, Greece, the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and Belgium.
